Be Mine- You Plus Me

Be Mine- You Plus Me

Since my last post I have had major wrist surgery (right wrist and I'm right handed) and will be in a cast for a total of about six and a half weeks. That is going to make stamping and crafting very interesting... Hopefully we will all have a few laughs at my expense over the next couple of months. I will tell you that earlier this week I was making a grand attempt at left handed fussy cutting. It was even more entertaining because I wasn't able to hold onto the paper with my right hand. I kept trying to stick the paper between my swollen fingers to secure it so that I could cut and it just wasn't happening! Haha! Anyways, onto my card...

A couple of weeks ago I made my first shaker cards! I followed a tutorial from Dawn's Stamping Thoughts and was so happy with how they turned out! Today I will just be posting one of them so stay tuned for more shaker cards coming soon!

Here's a link to Dawn's Tutorial if you want to give these cards a go: Shaker Card Tutorial

Have a great day everybody!

Hello You

Welcome back to another Jacksonville Starz Blog Hop! This month we were given a design challenge! Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

I created this card starting with the embellishment. On the sketch it's a heart but on my card it's a string of Bermuda Bay Sequins! I love those sequins and knew I wanted to use them so I based my card around them.

I matched my card base to the sequins and used some of our new DSP as a card face. I used the Chalk Talk and Oval Framelits to cut out the layered colors and I used a new set of framelits from the Occasions catalog called, Hello You, to cut out the "hello." I added some extra sequins in the background for a little extra bling and Wa-La! I was done!

I hope you like it!

Butterfly Thinlits & Butterfly Basics from Stampin' Up!

Butterfly Thinlits & Butterfly Basics

As soon as I saw this bundle I knew I had to have it! I haven't had a lot of time to make cards lately and I was so glad I finally had a few minutes to play with these. My crafting time has had to be put on the back burner lately because I will be having wrist surgery soon. One of my favorite things to do is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. A couple of months ago I injured my wrist while training and only last week I found out that I need surgery to repair it. Surgery isn't far off and I will be in a cast for 6 weeks. Yikes! How in the world will I make cards one handed?! by day I'm a massage therapist so I'll be off work for quite some time so I suppose I will have the chance to figure out the art of one handed card making! Haha!

This is the medium sized butterfly from the Butterfly Thinlits. I love how detailed and delicate it is.

I cased this second card from Pinterest and the design credit goes to Deb Valder. She's got a great video on how to execute this floating butterfly look which I did not watch before I made my card (darn it). So, my card was put together quite a bit differently than hers was but.... no matter. It was fun to figure out and is simple and beautiful card.

I hope you liked my cards today! What have you all been up to? Have any of you been using this bundle? If so, please post some of your cards in the comments!

Wood You Be Mine?

Wood You Be Mine?

Well, it took a hot second for the new Wood You Be Mine stamp to grow on me... but now that it has, I absolutely love it! I had a little time to play with it (Ok, not really, it was 3am and I made the time. Haha!) this weekend and here are two cards I came up with. They are pretty similar in color scheme because my original plan had been to make multiples of the same card design and half way through I changed my mind.

I think this one is my favorite. It's clean and simple and I'm hoping that somebody will be very happy to receive it for Valentine's Day.

I used paper from two of Stampin' Ups! new paper stacks. You can find them in the Occasions catalog if you're looking (or just look down below for a list of supplies) and they are called, Stacked With Love and Adventure Bound. I used my Blendabilities to color in this handsome lumberjack, heat embossed the sentiments, punched a couple of little hearts and there you have it-two quick cards!

Dude, You're Welcome!

Welcome back to another Jacksonville Starz blog hop! This month's challenge is a Valentine's Day challenge! I used a stamp from the Dude, You're Welcome Kit. I love this stamp because you get to fill in the blank with any word that you want! I used "LOVE," but you could say..."Need, Want, Lucky to Have,  Respect..." or any other wonderful thing that you may have to say to somebody.

Here's a side view of the card so that you can see the layers. I used Real Red for the card base then dry embossed Basic Black with the new Zig Zag embossing folder. Then I used the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits to cut out some Silver Foil which I then embossed with the Arrows embossing folder. I used the same framelit to cut out a piece of window sheet.

I heat embossed my "I ------You" stamp in black onto the window sheet and followed that up with some Gorgeous Grunge splatter in Cherry Cobbler. I filled in the blank space with a marker. I also wanted the black embossing to pop out a bit more so I hand cut a piece of Real Red to fit behind the stamped area. Then I used dimensionals to pop up the window sheet.

Snow Penguin

Welcome to another Jacksonville Starz Blog Hop!
This month our challenge is a sketch challenge! Here's our sketch:

And here's the card I made:

Oh boy!! I squeaked myself into this blog hop at the last second and had to make my card in next to no time at all! I usually like to rethink my card designs about 12 times with 16 different paper and color options so it was really tough for me. I had to force myself to stop messing with my card and just let it be.

I used the owl punch to make the penguin and I used the mosaic punch to make his cute little beanie. The background is the smallest snowflake from the Letterpress Winter stamp set and it's stamped in Silver Ink. The snowflakes in the foreground are cut from the Dazzling Diamonds paper with the Snowflake Card Thinlets. Then I colored them using the lightest shade of my Night of Navy blend abilities to give them a little contrast with the white of the Dazzling Diamonds. It's hard to tell from the picture but the Dazzling Diamonds paper is SO sparkly! It really makes for a fun card!

Thanks for joining us on our blog hop! I hope you liked my card today. Welcome to another Jacksonville Starz Blog Hop!
This month our challenge is a color challenge! The colors are:

Basic Gray and Pool Party are two of my favorite Stampin' Up! colors and Hello Honey is one of the new In Colors for 2014. Here's what I came up with...

I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit to cut out the background in both Hello Honey and Pool Party. Then I layered the Pool Party on top of the Hello Honey, offset just a bit to show off both colors, and popped it onto the Basic Gray card base using Dimensionals. The Pool Party is inked in Smokey Slate using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. The flower is from Backyard Basics and was cut using the Backyard Basics framelits (get these framelits now-they're in the Clearance Rack!).  I colored the flower using Melon Mambo Blendabilities, Old Olive Blendabilities and Old Olive and Pear Pizazz Stampin' Markers and then mounted it using glue dots.

I stamped the sentiment, "Just Because," from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set onto Smokey Slate cardstock and cut it to a nice size using my Stampin' Trimmer. I used the Hexagon Punch to make it a banner and then mounted it on a strip of Melon Mambo paper (also turned banner with the Hexagon punch) using Snail Adhesive. A candy dot in Basic Gray finished off the sentiment banner which I fixed to the card using Dimensionals.

If you look closely you can see that I have embossed a couple of cute little bees onto the card base. I wanted to add something subtle but beautiful to the background and I was happy with how these bees turned out.
