Hero Arts Color Layering Iris Thank You

Hey everybody! I hope you're having an amazing day. I'm so glad to be back here after what feels like forever. For the last little while I've been stuck in a tax/paperwork  black hole and have had so little time to get crafty. I colored this iris (Color Layering Iris from Hero Arts) way back in February and never had time to make a card with it. Over the next few weeks you'll probably see a lot of cards made from bits and pieces of cards that I started working on months ago.

I love this iris stamp set. It is a color layering set but I decided to use just the outline stamp and color it in with my copic markers. I have to apologize because since I colored this image in so long ago I cannot remember what colors I used. I can tell you that I used Cool Grays and a light violet for the petals of the flower. I had originally planned to color it in gray scale then decided to add just a hint of color.

I heat embossed my sentiment in white embossing powder onto black cardstock and cut it out. I had to cut the left side at an angle to tuck it neatly behind the leaf.

My background is sponged with Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick and Tattered Rose. Then I splattered it with water to add a little texture... then I splattered it again with shimmer spray. Then I cut the background using the Hero Arts Infinity Rectangle Dies and layered the front piece over black cardstock (also cut with the layering dies). I popped up the background and flower on foam adhesive to give the card dimension and to make the flower pop even more.

The final touch was to add clear sequins. You can't see it in the photos but the whole background of the card sparkles due to the shimmer spray I splattered onto it.

It's been a while since I've entered a challenge so I'm going to enter this card in the A Blog Named Hero: Clean & Simple Challenge.

Give Thanks

Hey everybody! I've just got a quick share for today. This card is quick and easy and is actually a stepped down card from something I made a while back. Honestly, I made this a while back too and never got around to sharing it. Whoops!

A while back I did a tutorial for a technique called "Ink Smooshing." You can check out that tutorial here. It's a fun and easy technique but perhaps not something you want to try if you're in a hurry and need a card on the double. So, I decided to see if I could recreate my card technique card using DSP... Wouldn't ya know, it worked out pretty well.

The card on the left has a background that was created with the Ink Smooshing Technique. The card on the right uses the Painted Autumn DSP as a background piece.

The sentiment that I used (heat embossed in gold) is from the Labels to Love stamp set. I also used the Starburst Punch with Gold Foil and added a strip of Gold Glimmer Paper for a little extra flair.

So, the next time you're looking for an easy Thank You card, look no further.

Ok, I've got a gigantic task list for today so I am outta here.
Have an amazing day you all and I'll see you back here soon.

Maria.

WWYS #47: Sky is the Limit

Hey everybody! It's another fantastic Monday and that means another challenge with What Will You Stamp?! This week we are featuring a Sky is the Limit challenge! This is a stamp set that you cannot buy...You can only get it for FREE with any $50 USD purchase. It is only available for a limited time so make sure that you place your order to get it before February 15th.

I had a lot of fun making this card and let me tell you that when I sat down to make it I had a completely different idea of it would turn out. But, hey, sometimes you just gotta roll with it!

I used the Going Places DSP Stack (only eight bucks!!) which I absolutely love and paired it with Basic Black and Mossy Meadow. I sponged the circle behind the plane with Mint Macaron and added some clear star sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment with my fine tip glue. I added a couple of candy dots and a thank you banner and called it good to go!

I like to finish the insides of my cards as well so I added a couple strips of the DSP that I used on the front. Here's what the whole Sky is the Limit set looks like. I really love it and hope you do too! Remember, if you want to own it, it's only available until February 15th!

Do you have this set already? If you do I would LOVE to see your ideas too! Please join us for this week's challenge over at What Will You Stamp?! If you want to see more great ideas for using this set please stop by and check out what the rest of the design team has come up with and check out our challenger's ideas too!

Happy Monday and have a great week!
-Maria
