Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Release April 2022 Blog Hop and Giveaway!

Hey everybody! The wait is over! It's time for the Hero Arts April 2022 My Monthly Hero release and this month's kit is absolutely gorgeous! It's got a gorgeous stamp and coordinating stencils and dies  (affiliate links may be used at no extra cost to you)!

Before I get to my cards, if you aren't familiar with the My Monthly Hero kit, it's a kit that is released by Hero Arts on the first Monday of every month. It always has a fun, themed, collection of stamps, dies and other goodies. The cost is just $34.99/month and the value is always much greater! This month's kit is valued at $70!

You have the option to subscribe (subscribing now means your first kit will be the April release), or, to buy your favorite kits as one-off purchases. Be aware that once these kits sell out they are gone for good. If you see a kit you like make sure to snatch it up quickly! There are also a ton of amazing add-on products! You can buy the add-ons as a bundle at a discounted rate or just pick up your favorite products.

For my first project I made a tag and had so much fun doing it. I stamped the background stamp onto white cardstock in Soft Granite ink. Then I used the stencils to color in the flowers using Lemon Drop and Taffy Reactive inks. I used copic markers to color in the bumble bees. Since it's a 6"x6" background I was able to use it to create two projects (see the slimline card I made below). I cut a piece of the floral design out on a diagonal and added it to a gray tag. I used the coordinating dies and cut out both a bee and some flowers.

Before gluing the pieces together I splattered the tag with black ink. I glued the the flowers down and added a black ring to the hole. I heat embossed my sentiment in white onto black and splattered it with gold. I added the sentiment with foam tape and then added the sweet little bee to finish it off. I added some twine to the top and love the rustic look of it.

Next, I made a card using the Mother's Day Vase stamp set. I wanted to go for a simple, one-layer card and this gorgeous floral stamp made it easy to do. I stamped it in Onyx Pigment ink and heat embossed it in clear embossing powder. I repeated the same process with the sentiment.

I used my copics to color the image in rainbow colors. To finish it off I added some highlights with a white gel pen.

Here's that mini-slim card I mentioned at the beginning of the post. It's so awesome that you can make two projects from just one stamped image. I matted the floral piece on gray cardstock and added a sentiment with some silver thread for a little extra texture.

Hello Sunshine and Rainbow Hexagons!

Hi everybody! I hope you are having a great week so far. I am popping in to share this colorful card using the Hero Arts Abstract Honeycomb Bold Prints stamp and some other bumble bee related products today. This background stamp is my favorite new background stamp from the January release. I love the quirky combination of hexagons and hearts. I decided to ink it up in a rainbow of color because, let's face it, color makes me happy.

I put the stamp inside of my Misti and stamped repeatedly using different ink colors. Between colors I cleaned off my stamp. After inking the stamp up (but before stamping) I used a clean towel to dab gently at the edge of the ink on the stamp. This removed a small amount of ink and ensured that I had smooth transitions between my colors. After stamping, I used a white gel pen to add some detail to the hexagons and hearts. Then, I used clear Nuvo drops to fill in all of the solid hexagons. This gave the hexagons dimension and a glossy, smooth finish.

I heat embossed my sentiment from the Bee and Flowers Wreath stamp set in white embossing powder onto black cardstock. I cut my sentiment out using one of the hexagons from the Hexagon Infinity Dies set. These infinity dies are new and are so awesome! I'm sure you will be seeing me use these a lot in the future.

My chubby bee is from the January 2021 My Monthly Hero kit. This kit is sold out so if you don't have this bee stamp you can substitute the bee from the Bee and Flowers Wreath stamp set instead. I added my background to a black card base. Then, I used foam adhesive to pop my sentiment and bee up on the front of my card. Some yellow and black enamel dots were the perfect touch for finishing off this card. FYI: Just in case you didn't know, these enamel dots are stickers so no glue is required. This makes them super easy to use without making a glue mess.

Oh! I almost forgot one detail. I used a cool gray copic marker to color in some of the outlined hexagons just to add a little something more to my background. I added a lot of "extra" to this background but it's honestly not necessary. It's such a beautiful stamp that it makes for a gorgeous background without doing anything extra to it.

Ok, you guys! That is it for today. I hope you liked today's card. If you have any questions please let me know in the comments below.

Have an awesome day!
Maria
