Hi everybody! I'm so glad to have you here because today I am sharing a light-up card! I used to dread making interactive cards because they can be so fiddly... but, never fear! Pearblossom Press is here to make light-up cards easy for us. I used one set of the Pear Blossom Press EZ-lights to make this card. Each set has a small battery, three small lights on wires, and, a button to turn the lights on.
Looking at this card you wouldn't immediately know that it's a light up a card. I think that's part of the magic because it's such a great surprise to press that button at the bottom and see the card light up. I started out by ink blending my background using Hero Arts reactive inks in Splash, Blue Hawaii, Grape Slush, Green Apple and Blue Raspberry. I splattered the grass with black ink and the sky with both white iridescent shimmer spray and silver metallic ink. Finally I heat embossed the stars and constellations from the Lucky Star stamp set onto the background using White Detail Embossing Powder.
Now that my background is ready I can start prepping it to add my EZ-Lights. I selected three places to position my lights and used my craft pick to poke holes through my cardstock. I placed two holes in stars and another in the middle of the night sky.
Next, I placed clear enamel dots over each of the holes. This will hide the light bulbs, prevent them from poking through the front of the card and softly diffuse the light.
I turned my card face over so that I could attach the EZ-light unit. The first thing I like to do is to insert the battery into the unit. Then I press the purple button to make sure my lights all light up. If they don't you may need to flip your battery over. The light bulbs are located at the ends of the wires. I carefully placed them on the holes that I punched through my cardstock and taped them into place. Next, I decided where to position the battery/button unit and adhered that with some double sided tape.
HOT TIP: position it so that you can remove your battery from the side of your card. That way you can remove the battery and preserve it until you give the card away. Next, I gently coiled the excess wiring and taped it to my cardstock so that it was secure.
The EZ-lights aren't very big but they are thicker than one layer of foam tape. So, I added a double layer of foam tape making sure I avoided my lights and the wire connections. Here's what that looked like...
When I flipped my card around the lights were totally hidden and this is what it looked like...
When I pressed the button my card lit up and looked so cool. I took this picture on a sunny day so you can't tell how bright these lights really are but they are bright!
I used copic markers to color this sweet image of star-gazing kids. I cut them out with the coordinating dies and added them to my card using foam tape for a little extra dimension.
I hand-wrote "push" in the bottom, left corner where I positioned the button so that the recipient would know where to push to activate the lights. If you have a stamp set that has "press," or, "push" it would be really great to use that with these light-up style cards.
Ok, that's it for today! I hope you'll check out these EZ-lights from Pearblossom Press for yourself as they are so easy to use and can really take your cards to the next level!

For today's card I was inspired by this set from the Stamping Village. The Hero Arts contribution is so cute (small stamp of weiner dog with three cupcakes on his back) so I decided to recreate the small stamp but much larger. I used the Birthday Paw-ty stamp set to make make my card and it's perfect bc it had all the same elements as my inspiration stamp, but, on a larger scale. I started out by stamping my sentiment and image in Hero Arts INTENS-ified Black ink. I love this ink because it plays nice with both alcohol inks and watercolor. Then, I colored in my image with copic markers.
Next, I used my craft pick to poke holes in all three of the candle flames. I turned my card over and a grabbed a set of EZ-Lights. Each EZ-Light unit consists of a battery unit that has a button on it and three wires that extend from the battery unit and have tiny light bulbs on their tips. I taped one light bulb behind each hole that I had poked. Then, I secured the battery pack at the bottom left corner of my card front using tape adhesive. This placement will allow for the button to easily be pushed to light up the candles. I gently looped the excess length of wires and taped them to the back of the card. Last, I added a double layer of foam tape and adhered my card face to a top folding card base. To see pictures of what the guts of these cards look like make sure you stop by the Hero Arts blog. I shared a card over there as well and took quite a few pictures of the process of putting the card together.
When you press and hold the bottom left corner of my card the candles light up like this...
I had so much fun making this card today. My idea to recreate the stamp from the Stamping Village set came together so easily. It's simple but the lights really take it up a notch and add a fun-factor!

Hello everybody! That's right, I'm back for my second post of the day and all before 7am. Lol. I'm glad to have you back here because now I'm taking part in a collaboration hop between two super fun companies: HAI Supply and Pear Blossom Press. HAI Supply has everything you need for embellishing your cards from sequins and jewels, to clay embellishments (check out the rainbows!), and even washi tape and paper! Pear Blossom Press has the most amazing and easy to use light up units (EZ-LIGHTS) to use with your interactive cards! All you have to do is pop the battery in and the lights work. I've got video showing how easy they are below so make sure to check that out below.
Before I get too far along I want to make sure you know that both of these amazing companies have offered all of you a Discount code for their shops! On to my first card... HAI Supply and Pear Blossom Press issued us the challenge of using washi paper, embellishments and a light up unit all on one card- Challenge accepted! I used a sheet of washi paper from THIS washi paper pack because it looks like fireworks. I thought it would be really cool to make the fireworks light up.
The EZ-LIGHTS have three different light bulbs so I picked three fireworks to have light up. I used a craft pick to poke holes in the centers so that the light would shine through more brightly. I glued clear, round embellishments on top of the holes I poked. When the lights shine these embellishments will glow brightly and diffuse the light for a bright glow.
Next I turned the washi paper over and used tape to adhere the lights right behind the holes I had poked. This will keep the lights where I want them so that the fireworks will glow from the centers.
Here's a pic of what the fireworks look like when they are lit up. In real life its very striking against the black background of the card.
After I had my lights in place and had fixed the battery pack where I wanted it I used a double layer of foam tape to pop up my card face. I used dies from Honeybee Stamps and gorgeous papers from Tonic Studios to add a sentiment. Down at the bottom left of my card I used a Lawn Fawn set to add "push me" so that the recipient will know how to activate the lights.
Check out this video to see how I made this card and to see the lights in action...
The combination of the Pear Blossom Press EZ-LIGHTS and HAI Supply embellishments is so awesome that I had to make a second card. This time around I used the Super Hero Scrubs stamp from Erin Lee Creative. I've been wanting to send a nurse friend a card and this stamp works perfectly with the HAI supply Heart Drops.
I stamped and colored my image with copic markers and then cut it out. I used my craft pick to poke a hole in the center of the tiny heart. Then I glued a small, red heart embellishment on top of the hole. I added my lights behind the hole and taped them in place. The wires and battery pack are hidden behind the ink blended panel which is popped up with a double layer of foam tape.
Here's a look at what it looks like when it's lit up. In real life there's a warm, red glow.
I used the same Lawn Fawn set to add the "Push Here" at the bottom of the card.
