OSAT Blog Hop: Tic Tac Toe

Hi there! Welcome back to another fabulous OSAT Blog Hop! This time around we've got twenty fabulous hoppers each with both a card and a project to share with you. You may be starting here at my blog or you may have come from the uber talented, former SU Artisan Jeanna Bohanon! I hope you've got the time to make your way through the whole hop because it's going to be amazing!! Our theme for this month is a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge! Any three in a row and it's a go! Here is our playing board...

I chose the top row across: Lace, Twine and Brads! How fun! Here is my project...
I used the Helping Me Grow set from the current Occasions catalog and Butterfly Basics from the Annual catalog. I heat embossed my flowers in black on watercolor paper and watercolored them in with Blackberry Bliss ink. I stamped some faux lace onto my background and wrapped real lace (mint macaron and venetian crochet) around my image piece then topped it off with twine. Are  you having trouble finding my brad?

There it is! I added a mini silver brad to the beautiful (lace patterned) butterfly and bent the back of the brad forward to look like antennae. I did want the butterfly to have beautiful long antennae though so I added silver metallic thread to get the look I wanted.

One of the little details on this card that I think is fun are the black ink spatters in the background. I did this by flicking the tip of my black Stampin Write marker on the inside of the cap. It sprays just the right amount of ink onto... everything (including your project hopefully-I was not so lucky the first couple of tries at this). I also crushed up a 2" circle of Typeset DSP to place behind the butterfly and added some clear dots to give the card a little something more. I hope you like it!

For my project I decided to use the same row again: Lace, Twine and Brads...
I made a gift bag and decided to use the same basic image layout but to heat emboss in white and clear instead. I also watercolored with reckless abandon instead of staying somewhat in the lines. I think it created an interesting batik look at the top of the flowers where I embossed in clear. I'm going to have to play around a bit more with this look. You might have to look closely but there are a lot of fun details on this project.

Here you go, lace, twine and brads all in one pic. This time I used a bow instead of a butterfly and that makes for a more subtle look.

I knew I wanted to something fun on the bottom of the bag but I also didn't want it to outshine the flowers. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of Mint Macaron and layered it with a piece of vellum. I adhered the vellum underneath the image piece with Fast Fuse and below the sentiment with a brad. The small silver medallion underneath the wrinkled piece of DSP gives this bag a little bit more of a vintage feel... I think...right? Does it? Someone tell me please!

The last thing I added to this bag is one of the mini silver clothespins. I tied a little bow around it and it's just so pretty against that speckled paper.

That's it for today! I hope you have enjoyed my projects. I hope you will keep hopping along with us. Please click the next button to continue on to the fabulous Kim Smith! I'll say goodbye for now after just one more question... I'm curious to know if you prefer the flower I used today embossed in black or in white? Any particular reason why you like one better than the other? Thanks!

Have an amazing day and enjoy the hop! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Maria
