I absolutely love the colors and striped design of the paper bags that come in this month's kit. I thought the pattern was perfect for a jungle theme. So, I paired this month's Paper Pumpkin Kit with two different animal sets to make a "sweet" little gift bag and a birthday card.
So much cool stuff came in this kit! See the leaves that are poking out from behind my card face? Those are stickers that came in the kit! Too cool and they are so easy to use. I also added a little texture to my background with a stamp from the Timeless Textures set. That set makes it so easy to add extra detail to a card that just needed a little extra something.
Sticking to my jungle theme I decided to use the adorable sloth from a new set called Quirky Critters. I love this stamp! I stamped in Black Archival ink on watercolor paper and used Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede inks to fill it in with my aqua painter.
I had so much fun figuring out this project! I thought the "sweet" slice of watermelon could become a "sweet" little pocket card for a baby themed gift bag... and it worked perfectly when paired with the sweet little lion from the new A Little Wild set. I love that I was able to use the sentiment to create a new one, "For a sweet, sweet, little someone. Take a look at that little pocket... did you notice that there is stitching across the top of the semi-circle? I thought it might look funny with stitching only around the bottom so I figured out how to get it across the top too. I've made a little "how to" video for the stitched pocket. It'll be at the end of this post if you are interested in watching it.
The little lion comes out of the pocket and is a card!
This little lion was really fun to watercolor and it's so fun that he's double sided. The card even has a matching frame lit so that it's easy to cut out. The framelit leaves a little tag so that you can tie this tag/card onto a bag-but I cut it off for this project. I used Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede to watercolor this little guy (Powder Pink for that cute nose).
Here's a look at both of my jungle themed projects. Even though I used different stamp sets that Paper Pumpkin Kit really pulled together the look.
Here's that video I promised you on how to make the "sweet" stitched pocket... Have fun making your own!
