WWYS #79: In the Meadow

Hey you all! I've had such a crazy weekend and I'll I've got for this week is one photo of my WWYS challenge card. Our challenge this week is to use the In the Meadow set. It's such a lovely set and the beautiful images can be used for so many different types of cards. Here's my quick and easy share for today...

UPDATE: Adding one more pic! This is the inside of the card. I used the same technique (watercolor w acrylic blocks and water) except I was able to do it on regular cardstock because I spritzed the ink with rubbing alcohol instead of water. Give it a go if you have a chance and let me know what you think! On regular cardstock the colors won't be as vibrant but they will often raise the paper giving you some fun texture!

And here's what the In the Meadow set looks like.

Have a great week and be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has made to share over at the WWYS Challenge Blog!

Jolly Little Pom Pom Hats!!

Happy middle of the night to ya! I've been wanting to try this idea for a couple of weeks now and am so excited that it worked! I cut the the poms-poms off of the Mini Pom Pom Trim and used them as the Dinglybops on the little hats! So cute!

This adorable stamp set (Jolly Friends) and matching punch will be available on September 1st! I hope you'll give this pom-pom trick a try and let me know what you think!

I better head off to bed now.
Good night!

International Blog Hop Highlighting Stampin' Up! Products

Welcome to our International Blog Hop. We are a group of demonstrators from around the world that want to show you ideas and inspiration using the latest Stampin' Up!® products that are available to purchase right now. You may just be starting the blog hop here with me, Maria Willis, or you may have hopped over from the talented Katina Martinez. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below (bottom of my post) will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the amazing projects. If this is your first time visiting my blog... Welcome! I'm Maria Willis and I'm from Boulder Creak, California, USA. I've been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for just about 2.5 years now and I have loved every second of it. I'm so glad to have you visiting me today as I take part in this fantastic hop put together by the incredible Kylie Bertucci.

On to my cards! I've got two cards to share with you today and the first card has a bright watercolor background and showcases both the beautiful Butterflies Thinlits Dies (intricate butterfly in the front) and the Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies (solid butterfly).

I love these butterflies! They are so beautiful and are so easy to work with. Here I've layered two different butterflies. The top, more intricate butterfly was cut from vellum for a soft look and was then washed over with Clear Wink of Stella for a bit of shimmer.

I heat embossed my birthday sentiment in white so that it would really pop on my watercolored background. Some of the fun details of this card might be hard to see but there is Clear Wink of Stella splattered on the black background. The black background is made up of five layers of circles to give it a raised look. There are loops of silver metallic thread tied into a bow just to the left of the butterfly.

Here's one more look that shows off the fun antennae and the silver metallic dot I used on the butterfly's head.

For my second card I've used the adorable little kitty from the Pretty Kitty stamp set and the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I stamped the image in Basic Gray Archival on Shimmery White paper and watercolored it using my Aqua Painter.

I trimmed the image using the new Layering Circles Framelits in Pink Pirouette and half of a doily. Some DSP from the A Little Foxy paper stack and some Stitched Ribbon in Smoky Slate finished the card off nicely.

I hope you enjoyed my projects today! You are currently visiting me here in the USA and if you are from this area too I would love to assist you with purchasing Stampin' Up!® product or if you need any help with the products.

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many amazing ideas and inspiration you don't want to miss so please keep on hopping! Remember that currently you are at my blog, Maria Willis, so check out the blog hop line up below to see who is next on the list.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to have you back again soon!

WWYS #78: Sweet Cupcake

Happy, happy Monday and here we are with another week of the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog! This week's challenge is to use the Sweet Cupcake stamp set. This is a really fun set that puts two and three step stamping to good use.

I started my card with the cupcake bottom stamped in Soft Sky. Truth be told I do not have this stamp set. I was able to stamp one image using a friend's set and that was all I had to work with-No mistakes allowed!! I wanted to do something really different with this set and when I figured out what I wanted to do I wished I had stamped that cupcake bottom in any shade of green! No matter, I got out my trusty friend (Clear Wink of Stella) and repainted the cupcake bottom using Wild Wasabi ink. My goal was to try to transform this cupcake wrapper into a grass skirt... What do you think? Once I had my grass skirt the rest of the card just fell into place with the cute little hula dancing bear (I so wish I had put arms on her-shaking my head at myself).

I used the Fox Builder Punch to build the bear, the Botanical Builder Framelits to give my card a tropical look. I used Timeless Textures to give the bear's coconut top a textured look.

There are so many fun details that I enjoyed adding to this card! I sponged and splattered the background, added lovely DSP and framelit cut pieces, vellum and copper thread and white/clear enamel dots topped it all off. I bet you're wondering how I got the clear enamel dot? Pretty simple! When I was removing one of the white dots from the plastic sheet I accidentally removed the white backing from the dot and ended up with this clear dot! I was thrilled because I LOVE clear dots! I added a little Fast Fuse to the back and it held nicely. Sometimes mistakes can lead to fun discoveries!

Here's one last shot of my card. I sure hope you liked my take on using this stamp set.

Here's a look at the whole Sweet Cupcake stamp set. Pretty fun! I've seen some really amazing cards made with this set and can't wait to see what the rest of the WWYS Design Team has come up with this week.

Don't forget to hop on over to the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog and check out all of the inspiring projects. If you've got this stamp set and want to join us we would love to see What Will You Stamp this week!

WWYS #77: Touches of Texture

Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by for another Monday with the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog. This week we are featuring Timeless Textures. I made a trio of simple but pretty cards in three different colors. I hope you like them!

This one is in Bermuda Bay...

Sweet Sugarplum...

...and Soft Sky...

Here's a close up of the Sweet Sugarplum dragonfly which just happens to be my favorite stamp from this set.

I think the Bermuday Bay wings are my favorite. It's hard to tell but the dragonfly wings all have Clear Wink of Stella on them to make them look iridescent.

I used a 1/2" circle punch to notch out the side of each card. I thought it was a fun detail but it also helps to keep the Linen Thread from slipping.

I used Linen Thread on two of the cards and on the third I switched it up and used some Thick Baker's Twine

I hope you liked my project today!

Here's the whole Timeless Textures set. It's pretty fun and can be used in so many different ways!

Do you have this set? If you do we would love to have you play along with us over at the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog! Please hop on over and share your own creation with us and be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has to share with you. Thanks for stopping by again this week! I'm so glad to have you!

WWYS #76: Party with Cake

Hey everybody and welcome to this week's What Will You Stamp Challenge! This week we have been challenged to use a super fun set called Party With Cake! You may not know this about me but I absolutely love fonts that look they are from an old school typewriter-yep, really! So, it makes sense that I would love all of the fantastic sentiments in this set because the font is awesome! I decided to use the "Make a Wish" sentiment to make a fun background centerpiece for my card. After watercoloring the background I heat embossed my sentiment multiple times in white. Then I cut it out using a 2" Circle Punch. I used the Layering Circle Framelits to cut out a piece of one of the sheets of Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate sheets to tuck behind my sentiment circle. If you haven't gotten your hands on this acetate yet I've gotta tell you it's pretty amazing! Every sheet has beautiful designs and one side has gold designs and the other side has silver. I've placed mine with the silver side up on this card.

After layering the two circles I added a silver foil banner and some silver metallic thread to the mix. Then I stamped the "Celebrate" onto a piece of Bermuda Bay and stacked that right on top of it all using dimensionals. I wanted to add just a little more to the background so I splattered my Basic Black card base with Clear Wink of Stella and added just a few Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes to add some more sparkle and texture. I love how this came out and I sure hope it makes someone happy on their birthday!

Here's a look at the whole Party With Cake stamp set. I only used one and a third stamps on my card today but the rest of the stamps are all really great too!

If you'd like to see more inspiration using this set please head on over to the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the design team has come up with today. If you have this set and want to play along with us-Please do! We can't wait to see what you will make and be inspired by your creations too. Remember that each week we pick a winner who will have the opportunity to be a guest designer on a future challenge... It could be you!

Well, that's it for today folks. Thanks for making my day by stopping by! See you again soon!

WWYS #75: Foxy Friends

Hey and happy Monday!! Welcome back to another fun week over at the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog! At the time I am writing this I am running way behind schedule as I get ready to catch a plane! By the time you are reading this I will be well on my way to Belize! Lucky me! So, since I'm running behind, my post today will short and sweet but full of pics. For this week's Foxy Friends challenge I made a fun set of cards for my Aunt in Belize. She's a veterinarian and this set is just perfect to make so many fun animal cards for her. Here's the set I made...

This koala is so adorable it just kills me!

This pesky raccoon sure looks like he's up to something!

I love this sentiment paired with this cute little skunk.

Hey there sweet little kitty!

Last but not least, here's one of the fantastic foxes from the Foxy Friends stamp set!

Here's another look at the whole set. Of course I stamped the insides of every card and the envelopes too... sorry I don't have pictures for you of all that goodness.

Here's a look at the whole Foxy Friends stamp set and don't forget that it pairs with the incredible Fox Builder Punch (which is how I so easily made this set of adorable little animals).

For more Foxy Friends inspiration head on over to the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the design has to share with you today! And now I'm signing off! Gotta go catch that plane!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog today! I'll be back soon with more projects to share!
Have an amazing day!
