#TGIFC147 - Sale-a-Bration Inspiration

Hey everybody! It's time for another amazing TGIF Challenge and this week the theme is Sale-a-Bration Inspiration! It's hard not to be inspired by a whole catalog full of FREE SAB items, right? If you're not sure what I'm talking about, now through March 31st, for every $50 USD you spend in my  Stampin' Up! store you will get to choose a free item! Yep, spend $100 USD and you get two FREE (Level One) items from the SAB catalog (or, 1, Level Two item). Pretty rad.

Anyhow, the free items are amazing! For today's card I've used two of the free Sale-a-Bration items. One of them is a Level One item, and, the other is a Level Two. The card base is from the (Level One) Tutti-Frutti Cards & Envelopes pack. You get 16 cards and envelopes in this pack and they come in four different colors. When was the last time you got a 16 pack of designer card bases and envelopes for free?

The stamp set is from the Happy Wishes Stamp Set and is a Level Two item. It includes sixteen sentiment stamps that are fantastic. Two of them are large and floral like the "happy" on my card. The other fourteen stamps are smaller and showcase a beautiful cursive font as in the "birthday" sentiment on my card. After stamping my large sentiment in Island Indigo ink I had fun coloring the flowers in with my Stampin' Write markers and adding a ton of Clear Wink of Stella to make it shimmer. Then I stamped the smaller sentiment onto some Pink Pirouette cardstock and cut it out by hand. I popped it  up on dimensionals to make it pop. Some vellum, a little twine and a few sequins finished this card off easily.

If you'd like to see all of the FREE Sale-a-Bration sets that you can earn with your $50 and $100 USD purchases just click the links below.

#TGIFC145 - Color Challenge

Hey everybody and welcome back to another midnight blog post! Well, it's midnight here in California anyways and it's time for another TGIF Challenge! This week we've got a color challenge for you and the colors are: Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum and Powder Pink! These are all colors that I never use so the color combo is outside of my normal range. No matter! I had fun with it anyhow! I used the new SAB set called Beautiful Peacock and stamped the tail feathers (two different stamps) in Sweet Sugarplum and Blushing Bride. I stamped off every time so that the images would be lighter. Then I used the Glitter Embossing Paste and added some diamond shaped texture to my background. You just can't tell how pretty and shimmery it is in the photo.

Next I layered some shredded ribbon, silver glimmer paper, die cuts, a vellum flag, silver metallic thread and my sentiment. I topped the card off with some rhinestones for a little extra razzle dazzle.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you about the sentiment. People are always telling me how they just cut their stamps apart so they can do "this," or, "that" with them. My heart cries out in pain every time I hear one of these stories. I'm like, "You cut your stamps? You just cut them right up? With scissors?" Horrifying. You've probably already guessed by now that I've joined the dark side- I cut up two sentiments from the Happy Wishes stamp set in order to create an "I love you" sentiment. I even had to cut off an extra piece and I'm not sure if they'll ever go back together properly again... but, my card says, "I love you," and that's all I cared about in the moment.

So, what do you think of this color combo? Have you used it before? Want to give it a shot? Join us for the fun over at this week's TGIF Challenges for #TGIFC145. If you don't want to participate but want to see some more color inspiration head on over to check out what the rest of the design team has come up with!

That is all I've got for today folks. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing weekend!
Maria.

Creating Kindness: Fun Fold

Hello Everybody and welcome to this month's Creating Kindness Blog Hop! I'm getting together with a group of truly amazing people today to bring you a blog hop filled with Fun Fold Cards and Video tutorials! Here's a little peek at what's to come...

The Creating Kindness Team Blog Hop goes live on the first Thursday (if you're in the USA) of every month. If you love the techniques and videos we share with you today I hope you will mark your calendar and come back to visit us next month.

For my card today I decided to make a card based off of a card a friend sent me a couple of years ago. I loved the way the card flapped open first on the left and then on the right... like a brochure. I have no idea what this fold is called so I've decided to go ahead and call it a "Brochure Fold." Thank you Jenny Hall for helping me to come up with that! I haven't used my Bubble Over stamp set yet and I've been wanting to make a card with beer bottles so this was my chance. Here's what the front looks like...

The front is a flap that opens to the left. I've stamped the bottles in Chocolate Chip and Old Olive inks and then heat embossed them in clear to make them look like glass. I put bottles both on the front and inside of the flap so that when you opened the card you wouldn't see the backs of the beer bottles.

For the labels on the bottles I used Old Olive and Sahara Sand inks that were stamped off once. The star was stamped in Chocolate Chip and punched out with the 3/4" punch. The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black Archival ink. Have you noticed those bottle tops yet? Those little beauties come in the framelits that are bundled with this stamp set. I love that they have a crimped edge and look so realistic!

The second part of the card opens up to the right and gives you lots of room to write to your birthday beer buddy. I left the inside of the card sentiment free and added another beer bottle over on the right to finish it off.

Here's another look at what this card looks like when it's all closed up...

This type of card is so much fun and is so easy to make! Just in case you'd like to make your own I've made a video tutorial to show you how. All measurements are included in the video. Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. It's always great to have you here. If you have any questions on how to make this card, or, would like help purchasing the products so that you can make your own cards please let me know. I can be reached by email or in the comments below.
*Remember that right now is the best sale of the year! It's Sale-a-Bration time and for every $50 USD that you spend before tax and shipping, you will be able to select a free gift from the Sale-a-Bration catalog!

Bye for now!
