Creating Kindness: Inspire

Hi Everybody! I'm so glad to be back on the blog today as I have just about turned into a raving lunatic from spending so much time crunching numbers (it's tax time here in the states). I'm especially excited to be here today as part of the Creating Kindess Design Team Blog & Video Hop.

This month our theme is "Inspire." It's such a great theme because it gives each of us the freedom to create based on anything that inspires us to be creative. I'm inspired by so many things in life from colors, to textures, to stamp sets and even by things like vintage china. Today's project is inspired by something totally different but I'll get to that in a second because I want to introduce today's guest designer...
INSPIRE

Bump, bum, bum, bah (trumpets)! Our guest designer this month is none other that the amazing Brian King! Brian's work is always stunning with clean lines and beautiful layouts. I can't wait to see what he has to share with us today. I met Brian last November at the OnStage event in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here's a picture of Carolynn Sander, Brian, and myself during a break.

Ok! Back to my project now. I almost didn't participate in this blog hop because I was trying to be responsible and stay focused on my tax prep. I really needed a break though and decided that I could spare thirty minutes (only 30 minutes) and that if I could get my card AND VIDEO done in that amount of time then I would be able to participate in this hop. I really didn't have extra time to spare so this suddenly became a bit of a fun challenge for me. I sat down and without any planning I just started creating freely but with the focus of knowing I could not get sidetracked and that I had to finish this project no matter how it turned out. My project changed directions a few different times but when I flipped my video camera off and saw that the timer showed I had been working for 23 minutes I couldn't believe it! Here's what I came up with...

I am a slow, laid back crafter most of the time so I'm pretty pleased with myself that I was able to knock out a card and video so quickly. I watercolored the background with Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo, then added Shimmer Embossing Paste. I spattered some black ink on the background and added a sentiment. I even had a tricky way to add that bow to the Silver Glimmer Paper. Here's a quick video sharing my creative process. I will definitely be setting a timer for myself again in the future as it forced me to work in a different way than normal... Have you ever worked on a timer? Let me know how it went for you!

Remember that this video is part of the Creating Kindness Design Team Video Hop. That means that after watching my video, you can scroll to the description and click on the link to get to the next team member's video! I haven't yet seen what everyone else has to share but I'm so excited to see all of their beautiful projects and tutorials. Next up on this hop is my lovely friend Carolynn Sander of Carebear Stamps. She's my Canadian BFF and I'm sure she's got something stunning to share with us so let's click this next button and go visit her!  As for me, I'll say goodbye for now but I'll be back in just a couple of hours with another blog hop (Paper Pumpkin).

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I'll see you soon!
Have an amazing day!
Maria Willis
