Hey everybody! It's been a hot minute since I've been here hasn't it? I've been off working hard on a variety of things and helping get ready for my sister's wedding celebration. The wedding party was at my parent's house (they actually got married in the Sierra's in September-so cool!) so we all pitched in to get things done... and the wedding celebration was wonderful! I've also started training jiu jitsu again and I'm so happy about that. All the time off is not good for me. But, I'm guessing you aren't here for my life story so let's get on to the card!
I don't know if you are familiar with stamp designer Stacey Yacula but she is absolutely amazing. She has the sweetest style and draws the most adorable animals and scene building stamps. Until recently I believe she was only designing for Purple Onion Designs but she's now working with MFT Stamps as well. The penguin I've used today is from MFT and the background stamp is from Purple Onion Designs. That's one of the awesome things about her stamps. You can mix and match from her different collections to create so many different possibilities.
I started this card with a sketch in mind. Freshly Made Sketches has got a fun sketch for challenge # 364 and you can check it out at the bottom of my post. I knew I wanted to use one of the MFT penguins and once I found this background the card fell into place pretty quickly.
I colored the penguin with my Copic markers and I'm betting you can see that he's a bit sparkly? I used shimmer paper from Stampin' Up. I love this paper for copic coloring as the ink blends so well on it. The shimmer adds just that extra touch to winter cards too.
My background was colored with Copic Markers too. I added some shading and then some snow to both the trees and sky with a white gel pen. It's subtle but pretty. Finally I heat embossed the sentiment (MFT) in white on black.
Here's a graphic of this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. It's a fun one to play along with so head over to their challenge blog if you have a little time to get crafty. If you're interested in checking out these products I am providing links below. Both MFT and Purple Onion are having sales right now. If you don't mind clicking through my affiliate links below I'd sure appreciate it. When you all buy from my links I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.
