Hero Arts My Monthly Hero December 2021 Kit Release, Blog Hop and Giveaway!

Hey everybody! The wait is over! It's time for the Hero Arts December My Monthly Hero release and this month's kit has so many fun elements (affiliate links may be used at no extra cost to you)!

Before I get to my cards, if you aren't familiar with the My Monthly Hero kit, it's a kit that is released by Hero Arts on the first Monday of every month. It always has a fun, themed, collection of stamps, dies and other goodies. The cost is just $34.99/month and the value is always much greater! This month's kit is valued at $70!

You have the option to subscribe (subscribing now means your first kit will be the January release), or, to buy your favorite kits as one-off purchases. Be aware that once these kits sell out they are gone for good. If you see a kit you like make sure to snatch it up quickly! There are also a ton of amazing add-on products! You can buy the add-ons as a bundle at a discounted rate or just pick up your favorite products.

For my first card I cut a piece from the coverplate fancy die that comes in the kit (balcony guy) out of Pitch Black cardstock. On the die he's high on the left side but I wanted him to be lower so that he could gaze out into the cosmos so cutting him out allowed me to place him where I wanted him. I have a stash of fun galaxy backgrounds that I made using my liquid watercolors so I grabbed one of those and cut it down to size (3" x 4.25").

Next, I used my Onyx pigment ink and some clear embossing powder to heat emboss a sentiment onto the background piece. I used my Precision Glue to add the die cut piece to the left side and added some white stars to the sky with a posca pen.

I wanted to colorful background to pop off the card so I added a black mat. I followed the black mat with a layer of foam adhesive and stuck the whole shebang to a pebble cardbase.

My next card features the Tri-fold Edge City Fancy Die and another one of my liquid watercolor galaxy backgrounds. I cut all three dies out of white cardstock and staggered the heights of the paper so that they would all be seen on the card.

Before adding the layers to my galaxy background with foam tape for some serious dimension, I made sure to stamp my sentiment using Sapphire Pigment ink and clear embossing power. The sentiment is from the City Park HeroScape set.

I wish I could tell you that this card was quick and easy (it almost was!) but I took the time to cut tiny pieces of foam tape to put behind the detailed buildings. I wanted to make sure the layers wouldn't get crushed and collapse into the background. It took quite a while but it was totally worth it to have a delicate yet solid card when I was done.
