Give Thanks

Hey everybody! I've just got a quick share for today. This card is quick and easy and is actually a stepped down card from something I made a while back. Honestly, I made this a while back too and never got around to sharing it. Whoops!

A while back I did a tutorial for a technique called "Ink Smooshing." You can check out that tutorial here. It's a fun and easy technique but perhaps not something you want to try if you're in a hurry and need a card on the double. So, I decided to see if I could recreate my card technique card using DSP... Wouldn't ya know, it worked out pretty well.

The card on the left has a background that was created with the Ink Smooshing Technique. The card on the right uses the Painted Autumn DSP as a background piece.

The sentiment that I used (heat embossed in gold) is from the Labels to Love stamp set. I also used the Starburst Punch with Gold Foil and added a strip of Gold Glimmer Paper for a little extra flair.

So, the next time you're looking for an easy Thank You card, look no further.

Ok, I've got a gigantic task list for today so I am outta here.
Have an amazing day you all and I'll see you back here soon.

Maria.

Creating Kindness Blog Hop: Color Inspiration

Hey Everybody! I hope you're having a great day today! I am excited because it's time for another Creating Kindness around the world blog hop. We are a group of Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who have teamed up to bring you crafty fun once a month, both via a blog and a video hop. This month our theme is Color Inspiration. Each of us has picked three colors (we are allowed to add neutrals if we'd like to) and had a good play. If you'd like to see the whole team's projects please be sure to click the next button at the bottom of my post.

I decided to use Pacific Point, Berry Burst and Daffodil Delight as my three colors. I picked these colors because I was pretty sure that when watercolored they would blend fantastically into a wider range of beautiful colors.

I decided to use the largest stamp from the Hello Color stamp set to stamp a background on my watercolor paper. I had to stamp it twice to cover the background. I used Versamark ink and then heat embossed in gold. This stamp really has such a fun design.

After I embossed my watercolor paper I started watercoloring at the bottom with Pacific Point. I used my aqua painter to add water and then color. Soon I began to add Berry Burst and I made sure to blend the colors together where they met to create some purpley-blues that I just love. I carried the Berry Burst into the top half of the card where I finally blended it together with Daffodil Delight.

I selected some parts of the design to highlight and added extra ink to those areas to make them stand out. I used the Basic Black 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon to cover the middle of the card (where there was a gap between the background stamps). I covered that with a sentiment that is heat embossed in gold on a basic black oval that was cut with my stitched shapes framelits. I finished my card off with Black Rhinestone Jewels.

In case you're curious, I've made a video tutorial sharing how I created this card. There are some watercoloring tips included just in case you're interested. Enjoy!

That's it for today folks! Thank you so much for stopping by. Please the button below to continue on to my incredibly talented friend from Canada... Carolynn Sander!

See you back here real soon-Come back Saturday! It's World Card Making Day and I've got something fun planned for the occasion.

Maria.

#GDP096- CASEing Tanja Kolar

Hey everybody and happy Sunday! It has been so long since I've played along with a challenge blog and this week's challenge over at #GDP096 was just too good to pass up! This week the Global Design Project is CASEing its' very own Tanja Kolar and check out this gorgeous card that we get to use as inspiration.

When you CASE a card you can take anything from it that you want and use it in your own card. I chose to use Tanja's layout. I switched the squares out for circles and added a larger sentiment.  I love that two cards using the same layout can look so very different. My sentiment is from the Window Shopping stamp set. The little "To You" on the hand-cut banner is from the Tabs For Everything set.

I really had fun layering all of these beautiful pieces. The flower is put together from two pieces from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits. The tiny leaves were watercolored using Lemon Lime Twist and Emerald Envy and then cut using the same framelits as the flower. I hand cut both the sentiment piece in Berry Burst and the little banner in Pool Party.  The circle was cut using my stitched circle framelits and the Gold Foil Doily, Gold Metallic Thread, Pick a Pattern Washi Tape and Metallic Sequins were the perfect finishing touches for this card.

I'm so glad I had a chance to play along with #GDP096 this week! If you're looking to see more amazing projects using Tanja's card as inspiration head on over to the Global Design Project Blog and check out all of the amazing cards over there.

Happy Sunday and Thanks for stopping by today! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or are interested in purchasing products to make some cards of your own.
